2007 Season - Pre Season Guide

Draft Day

You have 1 month to prepare - the 2007 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place at BUMS HQ on Sunday evening September 2nd. Cheryl will be doing food from 6.30pm with the draft following at 7pm. All should be wrapped up by 9:30pm. Attached is the player price spreadsheet which also includes all the players 2006 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year big names becoming available include QB Drew Brees, running backs Shaun Alexander & Willis McGahee and receivers Reggie Wayne & Roy Williams and kicker Adam Vinatieri as they’ve all ended their 2 year Franchise designation & become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 20 rookies - see the rookie report attached. Phil resigns, Draft Order and Franchise Players Unfortunately I was only told this Monday that Phil has decided to pull out of the league. I am trying to find a replacement but if I cannot we will run the Conference with just 4 teams and play a 2 up 2 down season. Phil’s most successful year was 2000 when he came 4th in the overall league and 2002 when he won the Conference. In 1999 he lost BUMSBowl IV to Daz 34-29. We wish him well. Dave Stamp will have the first pick in the draft and Ron the final choice. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. George & Aaron will have extra picks and the end of the 5th rounds to compensate for having just one Franchise player. Two Franchises re-branded this year, having gone from Champion to relegated in one year Daz’s team are now called Drop Outs. In something that may well become an annual re-naming David Stamp has discarded his ‘used’ French Letters and will play under the name French Frogs this season. My money is on French Fries for next season. Trading Days As with previous years if you make a complete hash of your draft (or if one of your key picks gets injured) you will have 2 opportunities to put things right. Due to work commitments I can already confirm that Trading Day 1 will be on Sunday 7th October before the week 5 games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 18th November before the week 11 games. Times to be confirmed later but put these dates in your diary. Season Kick-Off Game Our first game to watch this season is a cracker as the defending Superbowl champion Indianapolis Colts host New Orleans. We expect Sky will show the game live in the early hours of Friday September 7th and we’ll get together later that evening to watch it off tape. Venue to be confirmed. See you on September 2nd.
